Welcome to all who are interested in learning more about needlework, fabric manipulation and texture, both traditional and innovative textile design, experimenting with unusual techniques and materials. We welcome both hand embroiders and machine embroiders of all skill levels, and those who have always been interested but do not know where to start.
You have found the Official Irish Guild of Embroiderers (IGE) Website.
The IGE was formed in 2000 to bring together like minded people within the textile industry to share in ideas, design techniques and support each in other in our textile adventures. Our membership encompasses a wide variety of textile skills and levels of abilities from complete novices to more experienced embroiders, to those who teach nationally and internationally, and those who exhibit and sell nationally and internationally. It is his coming together of skills levels and areas of interest, and willingness to share and encourage, that give our group such a dynamic atmosphere.
Our monthly meeting are at the core of the guild. Each month we have a speakers demonstrations, library, workshops and on occasion visiting shops selling a delicious array of threads and fabrics. Tea and coffee is also available as our members who come together in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
We also organise stitch events and trips for our members. We have have a stand at the RDS Knit and Stitch show each year and hold a biennial exhibition, providing or members with the opportunity to display their work.
