- John ODonnell, Singer Sewing Centre, Waterford, will give a talk on using & maintenance of your sewing machine
- Afterwards John will service members machines, all makes of machines, not just Singer. See members page for details on booking your machine in for this service.
- Mel Bradley will be giving a workshop on devore and dying fabric and this will take place Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday. Details on members page.

Ten years of Sculpture at the National Botanic Gardens
This year’s Sculpture in Context exhibition celebrates 10 years at the National Botanic Gardens. It showcases the work of established and new artists taking interesting directions with exciting new work. The organising committee was delighted with the response and enthusiasm by artists who invested their time and energy since the site meeting in March, to the siting of the completed works in August.

Creative Crafts Call For Entries at the RDS!
The Call for Entries for this year’s RDS National Crafts Competition has been announced. Regarded as one of the largest competitive platforms for Craft in Europe, the RDS brings an international panel of judges to Ireland to adjudicate its 20 category Crafts Competition. Open to craft makers and designers living in Ireland or Irish makers abroad, the Competition attracts the very best in amateur and professional crafts practices. With a prize fund in excess of €27,000 in RDS prizes and awards, the highest accolade is the RDS Award of Excellence of €7,000 and the California Gold Medal.
Important dates for the Competition:
Deadline stage one: May 8 at 5.00pm
Deadline stage two: June 20 & 21 (delivery of entries)
Collection of unsuccessful entries: July 9 & 10
Competition Prize-giving: August 8
Exhibition opens during the Dublin Horse Show: August 15-19 *(entry fee applies)

Textile Art Retreat – July 2012
Our Guild, I.G.E. has organised a Textile Art Retreat in July for 1 week. 
This will be an ideal opportunity for members to prepare work for an exhibition or perhaps for our standat the Knitting & Stitching Show.

Textile Explorations – Workshops – 13 & 14 April 2012
Textile Explorations - Workshops
Take part in a two-day mixed textile workshop and discover the potential of Silk Painting, Creative Embroidery and Woven Tapestry. Challenging your imagination these techniques can be explored and combined. No previous experience is required.
- Silk Painting: Learn some of the basics of silk painting. Experiment with wonderful colours and see how the silk reacts. Suitable for the complete beginner, or for those who already have experience.
Tutor: Valerie McGurdy
- Creative Embroidery: A variety of hand-embroidery stitches will be practised and adapted as a way to embellish and add texture to base fabrics.
Tutor: Rose Mary Cullen
- Woven Tapestry: Colour blending, texture and mark making will be explored by weaving samples.
Tutor: Mary Cuthbert
Date: 13th - 14th April. Time: 10am – 4.30pm.
Location: Taney Parish Centre, Taney Rd, Dundrum, Dublin. Access via the M50, close to Luas. Free parking available.
Cost: €150. Basic materials will be provided. Book by March 26th to assure place.
