The space between the shoreline and the cliff face of the North Beach at Bray has been a constant source of inspiration and discovery for me. This landscape, at the mercy of both weather and tides, is constantly changing, depositing a variety of treasures and detritus at the same time on the beach. Observations of the changing cliff face, pocket size treasures gathered on walks, these tidal offerings have been chosen for their shape, colour and texture. sorted and arranged together for this work on cloth. Using sketch books and photography, each piece is built from hand dyed, printed and stitched cotton, linen, wool or silk.
A member of the 04 Group of Textile Artists and The Irish Guild of Embroiderers.

Moria Byrne will be giving a workshop on Saturday 3rd December. The workshop will immediately follow a talk by Moira and the guild meeting in Mount Merrion.
“In this workshop we will explore ways of using sheer fabrics to create an interesting image. We will layer several plain coloured sheer fabrics over either printed cotton or other sheers with interesting images, stitch images and then cut and burn away some of the layers to create interesting colours and shapes. Finally we will do more stitching and embellishing.” Moira Byrne
Places are still available but booking fast. If you are interested, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
**Workshops run by the Guild are only available to guild members**
Work on Sheer Fabrics by Moira Byrne
Haberdashery is the exciting new exhibition from the 04 Textile Group.
The exhibition combines contemporary stitched textile pieces with various historical artifacts related to domestic textile activity. “Women’s Work” was often hidden, unacknowledged and undervalued.
The exhibition is running from 15th November 2016 – 5th January 2017 at the Phoenix Park Visitor Centre, which opens from 10am to 5pm 7 days a week.
The 04 Textile Group are a collection of nine fibre artists based in the Dublin area, who have been exhibiting together regularly since 2004.
